The iLappSurgery Foundation is started out of passion for surgery and therefore it’s set up as a non-profit organization.

iLappSurgery Foundation

The goal of the Foundation is to develop educational material concerning specific advanced techniques in the field of laparoscopic surgery and to make such material available to surgeons, residents and other interested parties worldwide in the form of Apps at a minimal payment.

As a result we aim to increase the level of (laparoscopic) surgical skills in order to lengthen the life expectancy of patients, to improve their quality of life and to shorten the duration of hospital stay.

iLappSurgery structure

iLappSurgery was founded by dr. Joep Knol, born in the Netherlands, graduated at the University medical school of Leuven Belgium, and since 1997 practicing as a surgeon. He is a speaker at many international conferences and trainer in laparoscopic surgery and winner of a.o. the ACS award for best surgical video in 2012 in Boston.*
Dr. Joep Knol is the chairman of the scientific board and director of the project.
The scientific board also consists of dr. Tom Cecil (Basingstoke Colorectal Centre, Basingstoke, UK) and dr. Colin Sietses (Gelderse Vallei Hospital, Ede, The Netherlands), Debby Keller (Columbia University Medical Center, New York, NY, USA) and Sami Chadi (University Health Network, Toronto, Ontario, Canada).

The daily operational issues of the not for profit iLappSurgery Foundation are taken care of by an operational board focusing on financial issues, fundraising, promotion and press contacts.

Colorizing effects and other video-editing techniques are key components in the available App-modules of the iLappSurgery-project.
